Life's Journey Ministry: A Caregiver's Support Group

Mission: Our mission is to provide compassionate support for the spiritual well-being of the individual and their loved ones.

 

Realities of Aging, Illness and Caregiving Seminar

On Saturday November 15,th The First Congregational Church will be having its first all day seminar featuring regionally known expert and award-winning author, Mr. Charles Puchta from 9:00am-3:00pm. Registration starts at 8:15am. This event is being hosted by Life's Journey Ministry: A Caregiver Support group and co-sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging. Plan to attend this eye opening training experience and gain practical insight and perspectives on providing care, getting assistance and planning ahead. The afternoon session will be an interactive workshop on how to utilize the information from the morning session. This will also be an opportunity to receive advice and information from community experts in long-term care including home care professionals, nursing home representatives, medical supply companies, meal providers, adult day care providers, Medicare and Medicaid consultation and much more!

Support Group Meetings

Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM. Led by Leslie Taylor and Judy Peverall, R.N. in the David Bacon room. The support groups break in the summer June-August (like the Sunday school classes) and then resumes in September. The purpose of the support group is to provide education, information and compassion to caregivers and loved ones in need.

 

Information and Referral

Caregiver Packages

Informational packages are given to all first time support group attendees. The package consists of important community contacts, resources, tips, and some helpful medical supplies for caregivers.

 

Blood Pressure Screening

A free blood pressure screening is taken periodically at the church on a Sunday, following worship. Information is available, and results are confidential.
